The New NetGalley
If you are a publisher, author, media professional, librarian or avid reader, then you may have heard of NetGalley. For those who have yet to discover NetGalley’s service, it is a way to connect authors and their books with readers, reviewers and bloggers who want to read them. This is an integral part of the publishing industry, that lets us publishers share ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) with folks like yourself, who can help spread the good word about them. Having taken one of NetGalley’s webinars recently, I have become aware of some new features and reasons why this service may be the best one you have ever come across.
1. Book Visibility
If you are a publisher or an author and you need positive feedback and reviews, NetGalley enables you to match up with reviewers and book professionals who are interested in your genre. This allows for a targeted outreach that increases marketability and visibility of your book by sending it to people who actually want to read it. NetGalley also enables you to manage all of your requests for ARCs and to auto approve reviewers or sources that you know and trust, making it simple to get books out.
2. Widgets!
Do you want to send a digital copy of a book that your company is marketing or an author who wants to send their book out safely to people who will read and promote it? NetGalley allows for you to create both secure and open widgets, that are attractive hyperlinks that carry your readers to the NetGalley site where, if they are members they can grab the book or sign up for FREE and then download it to their preferred eReader. If you are sending a marketing email blast to a few hundred bloggers who you haven’t worked with before and you are worried about the book being shared or forwarded without your consent? Don’t worry, Secure widgets allow for the person whose email address you have sent the widget to, to be the only person to access it. Conversely Open widgets allow for sharing, forwarding and high viral potential!
3. +85,000 Readers & Targeted Marketing
When publishing a book you want the largest amount of eyeballs on it, with concerns to marketing, promotion and distribution. NetGalley makes this possible a few ways: one, with having +85,000 readers and that number is growing every day, targeted genre marketing and excellent customer service. For publishers, NetGalley offers attractive and prosperous ways to connect with their readers by creating customized marketing tools, emails and social media campaigns that are made just for you and the title you are promoting. Not only is this an excellent way to get the word out, but with NetGalley targeting readers by genre of interest, there is a higher potential for gaining more readers, reviewers and potentially purchasers of the book. Whether you are a reader, reviewer, publisher or author, I hope this wee blog post on the benefits of NetGalley has been helpful. Drop me a line and let me know whether you NetGalley or not.
